William 'Extra Billy' Smith     William 'Extra Billy' Smith
  CSA Brigadier General William "Extra Billy" Smith got his nickname from extending the postal route he had established when he was young. Each time he extended his route he received an "extra" payment from the federal government--thus the nickname. (H)
