QUESTION: What's the story on the Quizzes?

The Civil War Quizzes were relocated from my site to my daughter's site. She administers them; grades the submissions; replies to the participants; and maintains the Perfect Scores page. I, on the other hand, must take the blame for the questions. If you have a gripe about the questions or answers, address it to me, and I'll see if I can weasle out of it.

QUESTION: In your photo section, under "Leaders", why are there so many Leaders missing?

Although I have made a dent in the Civil War sites and battlefields, the leaders are woefully under-represented. To address this, let me say a little about my policy for this site (feeble as my policy is!). I try to have a least one or two current photographs on the pages in my photograph section. I will not make a page just of 19th century photographs, even though it is tempting to do that. When I get a few current photographs regarding a subject, I then search the digital collections for some corresponding 19th century images. Then I make the page. To date, the "leaders" in the photograph section are the ones that I have current photographs sufficient enough to build a page.

QUESTION: I have found a spelling error on your site. Why?

My site, as of October 3, 2005, has 129,764 different words. This is the total number of words that the spider that maintains my search program recorded. Obviously, entering that many words will lead to errors and my favorite method of building pages does not have a spell checker. So if you run across a spelling error, or factual error, or just want to comment, please contact me. I will appreciate it.

QUESTION: How often do you revise this site?

Almost daily. If the revision is significant, I place an entry on the What's New page. However, I am constantly making minor corrections or replacing photographs with better ones, which does not make the What's New page. So be sure to use your "reload" or "refresh" browser button to make sure you see the latest version of the page you're viewing.

QUESTION: What is the difference between pages in the Pending Section and pages marked "Under Construction"?
