Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson
1824 - 1863



  Born in 1824 in the town of Clarksburg, Virginia (now West Virginia), Thomas Jonathan Jackson was trained in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and received recognition as a hero in the Mexican War. After the Mexican War, Jackson became an instructor at the Virginia Military Institute (V.M.I.) in Lexington, Virginia.
